Message from the Principal

A man with a shaved head and beard smiles at the camera, wearing a suit and tie.

Taylor High School Community,

I am so very excited to welcome our students and staff back to the building for the 2025-2026 school year. I take great pride in being named the principal of Taylor High School, and I look forward to building positive relationships with students, staff, and the Taylor community.

As the administration team, teachers and staff work hard to prepare our campus to bring students back into the classroom, I want to assure you that safety and security is our top priority as we plan for the year. We have conducted an in depth look at how we can operate more efficiently while also tightening up on procedures to provide a safer environment for everyone.

Some of the new policies that will be implemented might cause a minor inconvenience, but please know that they have been put in place to provide additional safety for the campus. As educators, we understand the tremendous responsibility of keeping our students safe, so that we can provide them with a quality educational experience. It can often be an uncomfortable transition when a new principal and staff come on board at the beginning of the year. I believe that the resistance or hesitancy for change stems from a genuine love and passion for the organization.

Taylor ISD is an amazing district with a rich tradition of pride and excellence that will be valued as we embrace the changes that will take place over the next several years. The scholars of Taylor High School will have the opportunity to have a voice to create new traditions and provide leadership throughout the year.  Our goal at Taylor High School is to inspire students to achieve what they may view as impossible, equip them with the necessary skills and experience that will allow them to accomplish their dreams; and empower them to become the next leaders that will help transform our society.

My door is always open. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any concerns that you may have throughout the year. I look forward to partnering with you as we help each student to reach their full potential.

Matt Wamble, Principal

A Place For Everyone

Taylor High School (THS) is strikingly different from other area high schools. The student body has a richness in diversity and talent that exemplifies the Taylor community. As "A Place for Everyone," Taylor High has a staff that is committed to uncovering, sharpening, and supporting the development of our students' rich talents.

Our aim is to produce graduates who are not only prepared intellectually for their futures but also have been offered every opportunity to find success.

We support this aspiration in our Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP) program, TSTC program, and comprehensive offerings. We pride ourselves on providing a breadth of elective and co-curricular activities to support student interests. Our athletic programs regularly compete for playoffs in a variety of sports. The vibrant THS visual and performing arts programs are outstanding. Student work has been recognized with high honors at various state and national competitions. Our growing band regularly places first in state competitions. In addition, over 30 school and student-initiated activities meet regularly to pursue student interests, ranging from the Drama Club to our nationally recognized Academic Decathlon team.

We aim to provide a learning experience that demonstrates care and concern for each of our students—a defining characteristic of our school. We also offer credit recovery, extension opportunities, weekly tutoring support, and the Problem Solving Team to provide students with a variety of resources outside of the classroom. Our incoming ninth graders participate in Freshman Seminar, led by upperclassmen in the Duck Pride leadership program which supports student transition from middle school to high school, an invaluable experience not just for our incoming students, but for our student leaders as well.
