I am Candice Martin and I am one of the culinary arts instructor here at THS. I teach the level one students who are primarily juniors. The culinary program at THS is designed to be a complete pathway and students will receive a Servsafe national manager's certification upon successful completion of the course. Additionally, students receive credit for food science while in my class, which gives them a 4th year science credit. This means that students may have some flexibility with their schedules as seniors. They can choose whether or not to have a science class (assuming all previous science classes have been passed).
This class prepares students in not only technical skills but also in customer service and employability skills. Students will prepare for, run and operate the school's restaurant named Top Flight. The skills that are learned in this class can last a lifetime and be beneficial in any final career chosen.
There are two class periods for culinary level one and the first starts at 8am - 10:20am and the other class that starts at 12:30pm - 2:50 pm.
