Yearbook-Graphic Design-Audio Video Production-Photography
I am beyond thrilled to be serving the families Taylor ISD as the Digital Media teacher. I am a former graduate of Taylor High School and am proof of "Once a Duck, Always a Duck." I have been a school counselor for 6 years and taught in the secondary Social Studies field for 8 years. This year, I am embarking on a new journey into the Career and Technology realm and returning to one of my first loves-Yearbook. Thanks to my older sister most likely, I was chosen to be on the Yearbook staff my freshman year of high school at THS. From day one, I was hooked and spent all 4 years in the class, 2 years as co-editor with 2 brilliant classmates I still remember vividly. After high school, I pursued Graphic Design at Texas State and discovered a love for the Liberal Arts, specifically History. I transferred to Texas A&M and received by Bachelor of Arts in History. I went on to pursue my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction during my time at Texas A&M as well.
While I have loved my various travels and journeys outside of my hometown, I love being home and serving the wonderful community of Taylor. My husband is also an educator at THS and our two children have attended Taylor schools since Pre-K. They will be in 3rd and 4th grade this 2022-2023 school year. My heart is most full anytime I am with my family laughing and making jokes, but especially if that time is spent on a beach at sunset. My family and I spent the entire summer in Seattle and I was able to fulfill my lifelong dream of seeing a whale in the wild. I have a passion for all things art, Marvel, nature, and travel. I have varied interests and that is something that helps me relate to all of my students. Through my time in education, I've learned that I LOVE the field of CTE and what it brings to our students' lives. So when the wonderful and legendary Dawn Fischer decided to retire, I jumped at the chance to attempt to fill her shoes. I know I will be learning alongside my students and hope my passion and enthusiasm for this field spills over to all of my students. I love meeting each student and learning about their unique nuances that set them apart from others. I love that we are all different and want to celebrate one another, which ultimately connects us all.
I look forward to meeting you!
