Color Guard Competes at the Marching Auxiliary Nationals in Allen

On Friday, THS Guard competed at the Marching Auxiliary Nationals competition in Allen, Texas.  There were 55 schools / studios represented from several different states.

COVID protocols presented several challenges for our teams - limited space, warm up and performance areas separated in different buildings, and performance times scheduled back to back unnerved the students, but they persevered.

The Taylor High School Guard was awarded Grand National Champion out of all the guards there.  This is a team award for having the best, overall color guard at the competition.  In addition, the JV Flag Team was awarded National Champions, Salma Melton, received most outstanding Junior Solo, the Senior Level Team Flag/ Rifle received a 2nd place trophy as did the Senior Level Flag Team.

I can't tell you how proud I am of these students.   They have worked incredibly hard all year and this couldn't be a better acknowledgement of their dedication.

Please come out and show your support as they perform one last time.  The Annual Guard Gala  - this year also featuring a few performances by the high school jazz band - will be on Tuesday, April 27th at 6:30pm in the gym.  There is no admission cost.
